Prem Nichani, DJ Mocha Love (DJML), was born in Toronto, Canada. Since the age of 7, DJML has aspired to be a medical doctor. However, he also found music to be enjoyable and something to reduce the stresses and prevent the burnout associated with being a medical trainee. DJML started as a DJ in August 2010 at a Sweet 16 birthday party and with a passion for music, he has become one of Toronto’s most highly requested DJs. After several guests complimented his choice of music, mixing, and beat-matching style, DJML realized he loved the challenge of reading a diverse crowd in order to keep the dance floor filled. Since then, DJing essentially turned into a game for DJML where the better he performed the more the guests enjoyed the event they attended and the happier his clients were. DJML, who was receiving many requests to be of service to the friends and family of happy clients, was very critical of his mixing skills and thus began spending more time practicing and learning new techniques. DJML knew he could improve, and he found a way to do so.

DJML was trained on the decks by Jason Spanu, a.k.a. DJ Shine, who is currently a band member of Nelly Furtado, Frank Ocean, and more recently Broken Bells while also having performed for Drake, Ke$ha, Jully Black, and Kreesha Turner. DJML, who reminded Shine of himself as a young aspiring DJ, was fortunate to have learned and received lessons from him and his colleague DJ Takeover (Gio Cristiano). DJML also attended Scratch Lab DJ Institute in Toronto for an introductory course in addition to a comprehensive DJ and music production program at The Music Boxx with Corey Anthony, another well-known name in the industry. There, DJML polished his House, Electro, Hip Hop, DubStep, and Top 40/Mainstream mixing skills.

Since 2010, DJ Mocha Love has appeared at various different events since including weddings, nightclubs, school dances, and large corporate events. DJML established himself as a mainstream, top 40, EDM, house, hip hop, trap DJ while maintaining versatility in being able to incorporate any genre requested by his clients. DJML’s high-energy performances and experience on the decks have brought him around Canada, playing in many venues for large corporate clients including Wilfrid Laurier University, the City of Waterloo, and St. Michael’s College School. DJML has performed alongside big names including 4KORNERS (Official Raptors DJ) DJ CEO, DJ Flash, and DJ Twist.
